Protesters in Spain vow to die fighting for #SolucionHepatitisC

Patients say government’s funding is a matter of life or death.

Sufferers of Hepatitis C are staging a sit-in in a Madrid hospital to demand the government provide them with the medications needed to treat the infectious disease. While the government has authorised new funding for treatment, critics argue those medications are prescribed sparingly and take weeks to reach the patient.

Protesters have vowed to stay in the hospital until the government provides treatment options. Thousands have also taken to social media with their demands. #SolucionHepatitisC trended across Spain with more than 21,000 mentions in the last day.
