Annual forest fires are choking the region in haze. What’s being done to stop future fires?
Indonesia’s haze-causing forest fires shroud the region in hazardous smoke each year. Fueled by slash-and-burn farming, the fires are expected to worsen as the dry season progresses. Thousands are being treated for respiratory disorders and air pollution is forcing flights and schools to shut down. What more should be done to control and prevent the haze?
