Indian farmer’s suicide shocks political rally
Party leaders play the blame game in the aftermath of farmer’s death by hanging.
A farmer from Rajasthan hanged himself from a tree during an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rally on Wednesday in New Delhi. The rally was organised to support farmers opposed to a government land acquisition bill. Witnesses say the farmer, Gajendra Singh Rajput, was sitting in the tree for half an hour before he committed suicide. Several bystanders who noticed the incident reportedly tried to rescue Singh, but he died before receiving medical care.
