Mass grave prompts #StopKillingSomalis cry in Kenya
Discovery sparks allegations of extrajudicial killings by Kenyan security forces.
Kenyans pointed fingers at government security forces after news broke that a mass grave was discovered in the country’s northeast.
On Sunday, local media reported that a herdsman in Mandera county, near the Kenya-Somalia border, came across 12 bodies in shallow grave.
According to witnesses, one of the victims was taken from her workplace by people identifying themselves as police, in a car followed by military vehicles.
Local politicians accuse Kenyan security forces of abducting residents and are calling for an investigation. Kenya’s Anti-Terrorism Police Unit have targeted Somali Muslims in the country in response to recent attacks by the Somalia-based armed group al-Shabab.
Kenya Defence Forces denied involvement in the mass grave.
