- Leicester City are relegated from the Premier League as Liverpool move to within one win from the title with a 1-0 victory at King Power Stadium.
- Trent Alexander-Arnold comes off the bench to score the only goal 14 minutes from time as the Reds move to the brink of a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title.
- Surprisingly, Mohamed Salah fails to add to his 27 Premier League goals this season. The Egyptian sees an early shot strike both posts and still remain out and also hits the woodwork seconds before Alexander-Arnold’s winner.
- Leicester, who show plenty of spirit, also hit the post in the first half through Wilfred Ndidi’s low shot and have a goal by Conor Coady ruled out in the second half with the score 0-0 after Patson Daka was ruled to have impeded keeper Alisson.
- Liverpool, 13 points clear of second-placed Arsenal with five games to go, could be confirmed as champions if Arsenal lose to Crystal Palace on Wednesday. Failing that, a win at home to Tottenham Hotspur next weekend would be sufficient for Arne Slot’s side to take the title.
- Leicester, who have lost an English record nine home league games in a row without scoring, have 18 points and can no longer catch 17th-placed West Ham United.

‘We’re devastated,’ says Coady after Leicester relegated
“Listen, we’ve not been good enough all year. We haven’t,” Leicester defender Conor Coady told Sky Sports. “If we look at today, I thought we played and we nullified Liverpool quite well. They’re a world-class side.
“But if we look back at the season, it hasn’t been anywhere near good enough from a club point of view. But we have to look at ourselves in the mirror. We have to now. What’s happened has happened. And we have to try to put the club in a better position come the summer. That’s what we have to try and do.
“We took a bit of stick, we will take on keeping stick because it’s deservedly so. From minute one this season, we haven’t been able to fully compete in the Premier League. You need to be, or it will eat you up and spit you out. It’s something we have to look at, because we’re devastated.”

Following contract extensions for Van Dijk and Salah, fans are now focused on the future of local boy Alexander-Arnold, with speculation that he may go to Real Madrid.
The England international was asked about his Liverpool future by Sky Sports.
“I’m not going to speak on my situation or go into details,” he said.
“These days are always special, scoring goals, winning games, being close to winning titles – they are special moments that will live with me forever. And I’m glad to be part of it.”

More from match winner Alexander-Arnold
“[Van Dijk] pushed me to the front to soak it in to get close and personal,” Alexander-Arnold said, referring to the goal celebration in which he ripped off his shirt and rushed to the corner flag.
“The away fans are amazing. They’ve pushed us every game. They helped us win the game. As much as we do it for ourselves and our families, we do it for the fans. They’re the ones who spend the money and travel to games, it’s the least they deserve.
“To be so close to winning a league title – a first one in front of fans which what we were missing – is very special.”

Goal-scorer Alexander-Arnold talks after 1-0 win
“We are so close now,” Alexander-Arnold told Sky Sports.
“It was an important game for me coming back from injury. I’ve been working hard to get fit. I was happy to contribute with the goal – it was a big one.
“I’m sure it’s my first left-footed goal of my career. So it’s taken a few years, but I got there in the end. That’s the one type of goal I’ve been missing, but I saved it for the right time.
“We’re one win away now, and to do it with fans here is very special.”

Recap: Liverpool edge closer to title and send Leicester down
Liverpool have moved one win away from sealing the Premier League title as substitute Alexander-Arnold secured a 1-0 victory at Leicester City, which condemned their hosts to relegation.
Leicester, needing to beat the leaders to stave off relegation for a few more days, were holding their own, but Alexander-Arnold fired home in the 76th minute after the ball came to him following a goalmouth scramble.
Liverpool could have wrapped up a record-equalling 20th English top-flight crown had Ipswich Town beaten Arsenal earlier, but it remains a formality, and they could be confirmed as champions if Arsenal lose to Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
Failing that, a win at home to Tottenham Hotspur next weekend would be sufficient for Slot’s side.
Liverpool have 79 points from 33 games with Arsenal on 66 from 33. Leicester, who have lost an English record nine home league games in a row without scoring, have 18 points and can no longer catch 17th-placed West Ham United.

Liverpool can confirm their triumph next week if second-placed Arsenal lose to Crystal Palace on Wednesday. If Arsenal win, Liverpool can win the title by beating Tottenham Hotspur at home next weekend.
The Reds are aiming for their 20th English top-flight title, which would equal Manchester United’s record.
