The oil-rich Abeyi region is wedged between North
Sudan and South Sudan

Three years ago the Khartoum government and the SPLM, that is Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, signed an historic agreement that ended a bitter civil war in Africa’s largest country.

But recently a conflict over the oil-rich Abeyi region has emerged as one of the stumbling blocks to the implementation of the agreement. Abeyi is wedged between the north and the south of Sudan.

So, is Abeyi key to peace or war in Sudan?

A special Inside Story from Khartoum, Sudan, discusses.
