Kosovo is once again in the spotlight as UN-sponsored talks to reach an agreement on the province’s final status have ended in failure.
Ethnic Albanians are threatening to unilaterally declare independence after the official deadline of December 10.
That is a move Serbia rejects and one dividing the international community.
European Union members are divided over whether or not to recognise any Kosovan declaration of independence.
Russia is backing Serbia, and insists talks over the autonomous province’s future must go on.
With the current stalemate, what is ahead for Kosovo? What will the international community do? What fallout will there be in the Balkans and is there a risk of renewed fighting in the area?
