Israel-Gaza tensions: UN envoy in Egypt for ceasefire talks

UN special Coordinator for Middle East Peace is leading efforts along with the Egyptian government to forge a lasting ceasefire.

    The UN Special Coordinator for Middle East Peace is in Cairo for talks on preventing a further escalation of violence in Gaza.

    Nickolay Mladenov's meeting with Egyptian officials comes amid weekly Palestinian protests along the Gaza-Israel border.

    150 Palestinians, most of them of civilians, have been killed since the protests first began 18 weeks ago.
