What is the effect of Donald Trump’s second impeachment?

Donald Trump will leave office next week as the only United States president to be impeached – twice.

The House of Representatives charged him with inciting an insurrection.

Trump is accused of encouraging supporters to storm the Capitol last week to try and overturn Joe Biden’s election win.

Ten Republicans broke ranks to vote for impeachment, revealing cracks in a party that has largely stood by the president for the past four years.
