‘We’ve got some nerves out of the way’

Leicester boss Steve Cooper hailed his side for showing more ambition in the second half.

“We looked a good team in the second half… it was good to get the first point… maybe we’ve got some nerves out of the way… for us to get that out of the way, and to play like we did in the second half, will be brilliant for belief,” he told Sky Sports.

He also praised Vardy for his desire in wanting to play.

“We’ll have to wrap Jamie Vardy up in cotton wool,” he said. “It’s great to have him back.”

‘It was a disappointing outcome for us’

Ange Postecoglou has told the BBC that it was a “disappointing outcome” for his Spurs side.

“I thought we were excellent first half and controlled the game. Really dominant with our football but just wasteful in front of goal, and the same in the second half, and when that happens, you keep the opposition in the game,” he said.

“We created chances and weren’t ruthless enough at other times, lacking composure. It’s stuff we need to fix. When you are so dominant you need to make sure it is reflected by the scoreline.”

‘We gave them a bit too much respect’

Foxes hero Jamie Vardy says that a calm half-time chat really helped his side.

“Tottenham are a really good team but we gave them a bit too much respect, sitting off a bit … we started the second half on the front foot, getting after them… that’s what changed the momentum,” he told Sky Sports.

The 37-year-old has now scored nine Premier League goals in 17 appearances against Tottenham.

Vardy said he had hurt his knee in a preseason friendly against Villareal but managed to get four training sessions in before the game.

“I’m looking after my recovery to the maximum,” he said.

Vardy enjoyed trolling the Spurs fans

    A game of two halves

Spurs utterly dominated the first half and went into the break 1-0 up, courtesy of a Pedro Porro goal. Leicester were lucky not to be three or four down but Spurs failed to press their advantage due to some faulty finishing.

Leicester looked very much like a newly-promoted side – until they found the equaliser through Jamie Vardy in the 57th minute.

That buoyed the home side and they took control of the game, and they began to overrun Tottenham in the midfield.

Tottenham just couldn’t get going again and they survived several second-half scares as Leicester repeatedly broke down both flanks and came close to scoring.

In the end, Cooper will surely be happy with the result while Postecoglou will try not to despair.

    Full-time: Leicester 1-1 Tottenham

That woeful header was the last action in the game as the referee blows for full-time.

What a turnaround for Leicester as they came back to secure a point – and they could have had more as they enjoyed the better of the second half, but just couldn’t find the winner.

    Richarlison heads miles wide

Kulusevski breaks down the right but is fouled by Faes, who goes into the book.

Bergvall crosses from the right, Richarlison gets his head on it at the near post but it’s way off and Postecolglou doubles over with his hands on his knees and stares at the ground.

The home crowd hoot in derision.

    Spurs look blunt

Spurs are having an extended spell of possession, but they look very blunt.

They look to attack down the left, but Kulusevski is penalised for a foul on Justin.

    Spurs look to release Solanke

Both Son and Porro offered a constant threat in the first half. In the second, they barely touched the ball.

Gray looks for Solanke with a ball over the top, but Vestergaard muscles him off the ball, and the threat passes.

    Nine minutes added on

Bentancur’s injury has meant there are nine more minutes to find a winner.

Bergvall gives the ball away on Spurs’ right wing, Ndidi pinches it off him and crosses for Fatawu to head at goal, but Vicario gets two hands to it and pushes it away.

Spence and Richarlison are on for Spurs as Son and Porro make way.

    Scrappy fare

It’s getting very scrappy in midfield as possession changes sides rapidly though a series of interceptions and crunching tackles.

Postecoglou grimaces on the sidelines. He will not be happy with his side’s second-half performance.

Leicester look the more likely to score. They break, and Ndidi crosses into the box from the left, but it’s snuffed out by Gray.

    McAteer goes close

De Cordova-Reid makes way for McAteer.

Leicester have a free kick on the right. It’s lobbed into the box and McAteer gets on the end of it, but his header loops onto the top of the net and out for a goal kick.

Spurs look to get back on track

Spurs win a corner on the left and it’s hit deep to absolutely no one.

They mount another attack and Solanke gets the ball with his back to goal and tees up Bergvall, whose shot is blocked.

    Leicester make some changes

Vardy is also subbed off and he shouts a rather colourful goodbye to Romero as he leaves, which doesn’t need a lip reader to translate.

Mavididi comes on in his place.

From being ruled out just days ago through injury, to scoring the equaliser – it’s been quite a Premier League comeback for Vardy!

Buonanotte, who has been lively, comes off for Soumare.

    Spurs ring the changes

Bentancur was sitting up on the stretcher but lies down as it becomes clear he can’t continue and is carried off the pitch. His teammates look on stony faced, hopefully it’s not too serious. He was injured in a collision with Fatawu, who is fine.

Bergvall, Gray, Werner, Kulusevski come on for Bentancur, Sarr, Johnson and Maddison.

    Bentancur down injured

The medics rush on with a stretcher as Bentancur is down injured.

Postecoglou was about to ring the changes with Bergvall and Gray set to come on, but I’m not sure if this might change his calculations.

    Vardy comes close

Maddison looks for Son down the left side of the box, but Hermansen rushes out to slide and collect.

Leicester are immediately on the counter. Buonanotte puts Vardy through on goal. He takes a beat and hits a left-footed shot, which Vicario gets down to save.

Spurs set to change things up

A long ball looks for Vardy through the middle. The 37-year-old is still ridiculously quick, but he can’t quite get on the end of it as it’s overhit.

Spurs are preparing some substitutions to try to wrest control of this game back from Leicester. It looks like their promising 18-year-old midfielder Archie Gray will come on.

Meanwhile, Fatawu gets the ball in a promising position on the right but smashes the ball into the side netting.
