Trump rejects Puerto Rico hurricane latest death toll

The Puerto Rican government says nearly 3,000 people died in in the aftermath of 2017’s Hurricane Maria.

Facing criticism over his handling of Hurricane Maria that devastated Puerto Rico last year, US President Donald Trump has accused rival Democrats of inflating the number of people killed there.

An independent study commissioned by the Puerto Rican government had concluded about 3,000 people died.

Trump has rejected that death toll.
