Khashoggi killing brings attention to UN press freedom day

Jamal Khashoggi’s disappearance and killing is only one of many attacks on journalists this year and the UN notes that in nine of 10 cases, the killers escape justice.

The murder of Jamal Khashoggi has brought more attention to the dangers facing journalists.

Whether covering protests in Palestine, corruption in Malta or drug cartels in Mexico, journalists face the bullets and bombs of the powerful whose crimes they often seek to expose.

Friday is the UN’s International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, highlighting the fact that in 9 of ten cases, the killing of journalists goes unpunished.
