#MurderOverMeal: Indians condemn response to killing of man for alleged cow slaughter

Indians are criticising the response of authorities to a mob attack that killed a Muslim man earlier this week for allegedly slaughtering a cow and eating the meat. 

 

On Monday night, the mob broke into 52-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq’s house and dragged him outside where they beat him to death with bricks. Other members of Akhlaq’s family were also attacked, and his 22-year-old son is in critical condition. It has been reported the mob was reacting to an announcement made at a local temple that Akhlaq had slaughtered a cow.
