Report on missing and murdered aboriginal women calls for investigation in Canada

Many hope the report’s findings will result in greater protections for vulnerable aboriginal communities.

A recently released report calling for an investigation into Canada’s Missing And Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), has many concerned about the country’s failure to protect its aboriginal communities. The report, released by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), a branch of the Organization of American States (OAS), points to police neglect and systematic discrimination as the root cause of continued violence against aboriginal women and girls.
