Hashtag on economic inequality in the US strikes a chord online.

A conversation about economic disparity in the United States has many sharing their personal stories online. Poverty, gender and race were discussed using the hashtag #EconomicViolence, which has been used more than 20,000 times.

Users shared their views on what they thought defines “economic violence”, and discussed the causation of economic inequality. Many empathised with those living at or below the poverty line.
