Lithuanian PM: ‘Lukashenko is opposition to his own nation’

With widespread international conflicts, many people risk it all to get to Europe in search of safety and a better future. And although the most common route to Europe is across the Mediterranean Sea, a new one appears to be opening through the Belarus-European Union border.

Brussels has accused Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko of attempting to destabilise the bloc with a “hybrid war”, using migrants as a weapon.

As the Lithuanian government declares a state of emergency, we travel to Vilnius to find out what lies ahead diplomatically and at a humanitarian level. Lithuania’s Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte talks to Al Jazeera.
