One on One

Daryl Hannah

The actress and activist describes balancing the demands of Hollywood with a “green” life.

As a Hollywood film actress committed to environmental activism, Daryl Hannah’s voice extends beyond the big screen to grassroots campaigns worldwide.

But breaking into Hollywood has not been easy for the shy girl from Chicago.

Hannah’s interest in movies began at a young age, partly due to insomnia, which kept her up late at night watching old Hollywood films.

Her imagination soared and she became fascinated by the stories of US actors in the 1930s and 1940s.

With big dreams and determination, she moved west to Los Angeles at the age of 17.

For the past three decades this American sweetheart has become known globally through films such as Blade Runner, Splash, Wall Street and Kill Bill.

Daryl Hannah shares with Riz Khan the inspiration for her wild imagination that keeps her going even today.
