White House says Trump is not stalling on Khashoggi murder

The White House defends its stance on the Khashoggi affair as pressure builds leading up to an official US report on the journalist’s murder.

A senior adviser to President Donald Trump has defended the US president’s response to the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Kellyanne Conway says the US government has been moving fast to sanction those responsible.

Trump has said he is expecting a full report on the case by Tuesday.

The journalist was killed in Saudi Arabia’s Istanbul consulate last month, and US media say the CIA believes that Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman ordered it.

Al Jazeera’s Kimberly Halkett reports from Washington, DC.
