US President Donald Trump says there is potential for a massive scandal, if it is proved the FBI sent a spy into his 2016 presidential campaign.

He has demanded the Department of Justice (DOJ) expand its existing inquiry into alleged Russian meddling, to consider if there was political motivation in the FBI's work.
