‘We can win by any means’, says England boss Wiegman

“When you score so late in normal time and in extra time, and coming behind against Italy – you know you have a problem,” Wiegman told ITV Sport. “First half, we didn’t play well, but second half, we were better… they defended well and we didn’t have a lot of space. They got a lot of blocks in.

“You’ve seen so many England teams now. We never give up, and we can win by any means. We are going for that goal. We take risks and we never give up.”

Agyemang has ‘the world at her feet’: Kelly

“She’s unbelievable, and she should have scored again – that one that hit the crossbar. She’s got the world at her feet,” Kelly said of the 19-year-old, who scored the equaliser that forced the semifinal to extra time.

“A young player with a bright future, and I’m absolutely buzzing for her.”

‘I was a ball girl, and now I’m here’: goalscorer Agyemang

“I’m so proud of the team’s fight and effort. We were down for 90 minutes, but it’s the strength of this team,” said the 19-year-old, who also scored in the quarterfinals.

“I’m so grateful. Just four years ago, I was a ball girl, and now I’m here. To be doing this at this level is more than I could have dreamed of. We were ready. All the girls that came on, we took those two chances, and here we are with the win.

“I haven’t known many of these girls for more than two months. They celebrated with me, and it will be in my heart forever.”

England dug deep for the win, says Bronze

Talking to ITV Sport, England defender Bronze said: “We don’t do things the easy way, but we find a way to win. We dug deep and found a way to get the ball in the back of the net.

“Italy played well in the first half. We probably weren’t at our best. We were a bit lethargic. Being 1-0 down in a semifinal got us down after we had the chance to score.

“There has been a lot of criticism of the England team over the years, but what other team has gone to consecutive finals?”

Recap: England reach Euro 2025 final after extra-time win over Italy

Chloe Kelly fired home the rebound from her own penalty to net the winner as England pulled off a stunning comeback to beat Italy 2-1 after extra time on Tuesday and reach the Women’s European Championship final.

England, who fell behind in the first half but hit back to level in second-half stoppage time, had the better of the chances in extra time, and when Emma Severini pulled down Beth Mead in the box, Kelly grabbed the chance to decide the game.

Her first effort was saved, but she fired home the rebound to send them through to the final, where they will face either Spain or Germany.

The Italians had defended brilliantly and attacked incisively on the break, and their persistence paid off in the 33rd minute of a gritty semifinal when a ball from the right found its way to Barbara Bonansea, who took a touch before lashing it into the roof of the net.

England then dominated possession and created a slew of chances as the Italians rode their luck, but too often, the English attackers unleashed shots from a distance that were either easily dealt with or flew harmlessly over the bar.

With their hopes of defending their title slowly slipping away, 19-year-old Michelle Agyemang snapped up a loose ball in the box and fired home in the sixth minute of stoppage time to send the game to extra time.

Kelly talks about ‘unbelievable feeling’ of reaching the final

“It’s unbelievable! Such a great feeling!” Kelly told ITV Sport. “This team deserves nothing but that. Three finals on the bounce, and we want more. This is an unbelievable feeling.”

Asked about her spot kick, she answered: “I was confident, but the keeper did her homework. Luckily, I got there for the rebound.

“We have the belief and quality, and we just need to make sure we keep working at it for the final.”

Heartbreak for Italy, joy for England

    Contrast in emotions

Italy’s players are in despair. They are tearing up. They were so close to making the final for the first time since 1997, but a late comeback from England ruined their party.

To celebrate their remarkable result, England players are dancing in joy, rushing to the sidelines to share this moment with their fans.
