In a world where education is considered essential to development, technology is now regarded as the best way to deliver that education.
Governments around the world have different strategies to provide computing power to their classrooms. And now India has announced its plan. Almost inevitably, it involves a tablet device – indeed, the world’s cheapest tablet, which the government says will “enhance the quality of learning”.
But will it? And are computers really the best way to provide education? Are there unforeseen consequences to this reliance on technology?
