Trump-Kim timeline: From insults to handshakes

From threatening to destroy each other’s countries, to an historic meet-and-greet, the rocky relationship between US president and North Korea’s leader has been one filled with fluctuations.

Tuesday’s landmark summit comes after 18 months of insults and threats between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Trump once referred to Kim as “rocket man”, who, in turn, has called him a “mentally deranged US dotard”.

The North Korean leader has in the past threatened to hit the US territory of Guam in the Pacific.
