Fan violence and racism remain serious problems in Israeli domestic football, with tension between Jewish and Arab supporters often the cause.

While sport in Israel is often used as a means to express prejudice there are also efforts to give football a more positive purpose.

Former England player John Barnes travelled to Israel to visit one team that is trying to make a difference, and Sportsworld’s Andy Richardson went to meet him.

Back in the 1960s frustrated surfers got around the winter months by inventing a new sport – snowboarding.

That activity has now become extremely popular in its own right.

But now a new craze is hitting the slopes.

Like its predecessor, snowkiting is an offshoot of another water sport, and as Sportsworld’s Joanna Gasiorowska found out, it is taking off big time.

Manus Boonjumnong is back in training and aims to win another gold at the 2008 Olympics

One of Thailand’s biggest sporting stars, and pound-for-pound one of the best boxers in the world, is back after a long sabbatical from the sport.

Manus Boonjumnong shot to fame in the Asian kingdom after winning a gold medal at the Athens Olympics, only to then spend the next two years partying if media reports are to be believed.

Now he is back in training and aiming to win another gold at next year’s Beijing Olympics.

Sportsworld’s Wayne Hay reports.
