Greece COVID-19 fight prompts Athens to free public space of cars

The COVID-19 outbreak has accelerated Greece’s plans to offer tourists a grand tour one step at a time.

Athens is taking steps to become a greener city, and the COVID-19 outbreak has helped accelerate that plan.

The goal is to draw tourists back to the country which has been hit by the pandemic.

Municipal authorities are reclaiming five hectares of street surface and turning them over to pedestrians and cyclists.
