China, Russia abstain from UN vote on sexual violence in conflict while body caves in to US pressure.

    A US threat to block UN Security Council action on sexual violence in armed conflict has been averted after a compromise was reached, while Russia and China abstained over a number of concerns.

    In the end, the resolution was rewritten to reflect the three countries' suggestions
