Retiring UN envoy to Syria holds last briefing to UNSC

Staffan De Mistura made no mention of the most significant recent Syria development - the withdrawal of US troops.

    The outgoing UN special envoy to Syria, Staffan De Mistura, has given his last briefing to the Security Council, urging unity to help the Syrian people. De Mistura's successor, Norwegian Diplomat Geir Pedersen, will take up his post in early January.
