How a false rape allegation sparked violence in Myanmar

Al Jazeera investigates how a false rape allegation against two Muslim brothers led to deadly riots last year.

It all started with an allegation of a rape.

Last year, a Buddhist woman, Phyu Phyu Min, filed a police report in Myanmar’s second largest city of Mandalay, charging that two Muslim co-workers raped her.

Before long, a local website picked it up. The consequences were lethal.

Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit reports from Myanmar.
