Turkish lorry drivers brave Iraq dangers

Drivers continue to make trips to Iraq despite kidnappings and violence in north of country.

Turkish lorry drivers continue to make the trip into Iraq despite the country’s volatile state.

Iraq, Turkey’s second largest export market, remains an important source of trade despite the dangers.

Islamic State fighters in the north have released 32 Turkish lorry drivers held hostage for more than three weeks, but there is no news yet on the 49 remaining Turks, including diplomatic staff, who were seized on June 11 in Mosul.
