Kenyan town terrified after al-Shabab attack

Many in Mpekatoni worried about security after Somali armed group’s deadly raid on hotels and government buildings.

At least 48 people have been killed in a coastal town in Kenya, after attackers opened fire on hotels and government buildings.

Although the government has been trying to show resolve and reassure people about security, many of the residents of the town of Mpekatoni are terrified.

Al-Shabab, the Somali group, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Al Jazeera’s Rawya Rageh reports from Mpeketoni, in southeastern Kenya.
