CAR blighted by year of violence

The anti-Balaka Christian militia has been carrying out attacks on the recently overthrown Muslim Seleka fighters.

It has been a year since mostly Muslim Seleka fighters and the anti-Balaka Christian militia began fighting for control of the Central African Republic.

Seleka fighters seized power early in the conflict, but were then thrown out by anti-Balaka forces.

Tens of thousands of people have fled their homes to escape the fighting. But despite the presence of thousands of foreign soldiers, the country is still gripped by violence.
