Press backlash against the Lib Dems

Third party’s leader under fire in the media after success in televised debates.

Britain’s Liberal Democrat party has enjoyed a boost ahead of parliamentary elections on May 6 after two televised debates between the leaders of the main parties. 

The new found popularity of the party, which has traditionally lagged in third place behind the ruling Labour party and opposition Conservatives, has prompted a barrage of hostile stories about Nick Clegg, its leader, in the right-wing press.
