Famed Times-Picayune faces uncertain future as owners unveil plans to cut print editions and move online.

One of the United States’ oldest newspapers is under threat.
TheTimes-Picayune has been printed in New Orleans for 175 years. The newspaper won a Pulitzer Prize in 2006 for what the Pulitzer committee described as its “heroic, multi-faceted coverage of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath.”

At the worst of the 2005 disaster, the Picayune‘s staff continued to report under the slogan “We publish come hell and high water”.
But its owners want to move more of the coverage online, which could leave New Orleans as the first major US city without a daily paper.
