Iran military satellite launch likely to stoke US tensions

Revolutionary Guard says the country can ‘monitor the world from space’ after successful launch of first military satellite into orbit.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps says the country is now able to “monitor the world from space”, after successfully launching its first military satellite into orbit.

The US has accused Tehran in the past of using its space programme as a cover for missile development.

And President Donald Trump, without addressing the launch directly, has threatened to destroy Iranian gunboats which he says, have been harassing US ships at sea.
