Netanyahu plays race card: Israel is ‘Jewish nation’

The Israeli prime minister is further stirring ethnic divisions as he tries to get support from far-right parties in his re-election bid.

Israelis head to the polls on Tuesday to elect a new government. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been fighting hard to maintain his hold on the premiership in what has been a bitter campaign.

Up against a strong challenger and facing corruption charges, he has launched an attack against his opponent, the legal system and the media. His critics say Netanyahu has again used race to divide voters.
