Spain rejects Mexico’s demand for an apology over conquest

Mexico’s president says Spain, pope must apologise for 500-year-old killings amid warm ties between two countries.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has asked Spain to apologise for the past killing of millions of its people – but that’s been firmly rejected by its former colonial master.

Despite Spain’s refusal, the two countries have enjoyed close ties, with some analysts saying that’s likely to continue.
