Voter turnout low in Benin parliamentary elections

Few voters in Benin turn out for elections with opposition excluded and only two parties in competition.

With just two parties to choose from and no opposition parties in the running, few voters have turned up to cast their ballot in Benin’s parliamentary elections.

Some parties may have told their supporters to stay away in protest.

And that is not good for the country’s democratic future.
