SpaceX launches first commercial mission of Falcon Heavy

SpaceX successfully launched its first operational mission of Falcon Heavy, more than a year after it launched a sports car into space.

A rocket, created by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company, has made a giant leap. On its first commercial mission, the Falcon Heavy is taking cargo into orbit.

More than 23 storeys in height, the Space X Falcon Heavy packs twice as much power as any other rocket on the Earth.

Its future missions will push military satellites into orbit and ferry passengers into space for a price cheaper than ever before – roughly $90m a launch.
