Archaeologists dig mass graves of Spanish Civil War era
Mass graves are being excavated in Spain to uncover the victims of the Franco regime.
Mass graves are being excavated in Spain in the search of the remains of more than 2,000 victims of the Franco regime.
It’s estimated that more than 110,000 people were killed and their bodies dumped across the country during the rule of Francisco Franco, a military dictator.
The digging follows a government announcement of a plan to exhume the bodies for reburial.
Al Jazeera’s Karl Penhaul reports from Paterna, Spain.
