South Africans want a bigger crackdown on narcotics

Increased policing has failed to curb drug gangs’ operations and many communities suffer from addiction epidemics.

The South African government is being urged to do more to tackle drug gangs by communities who say increased policing is not nearly enough.

 

Al Jazeera’s Fahmida Miller reports from Cape Flats, in the eastern suburbs of Cape Town, where she met a mother who killed her own son because of his drug addiction.
