Trump expected to sign new North American trade deal

Trump’s US-Canada-Mexico deal replaces NAFTA and likely to be much touted during 2020 election campaign.

US President Donald Trump is expected to sign off on a new trade deal with Mexico and Canada to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

It was a key campaign issue for Trump during the 2016 election, and he blamed NAFTA for domestic job cuts.

The new deal includes tougher labour laws and stricter sourcing of car parts, but it could be delayed for months.
