In an age when our oceans are threatened by climate change, over-fishing, drilling for oil and deep-sea mining, a team of divers is going to study the unexplored waters off the coast of French Guiana.

The team would gather the scientific evidence that will help bolster the case for greater protection of the world's seas.

    Al Jazeera's Nick Clark reports.
