Hong Kong protests: Police use tear gas on demonstrators

Tear gas and water cannon are police tactics which have only so far emboldened protesters to keep surging forward.

    Violence has broken out in Hong Kong after tens of thousands of people defied a police ban to march through the city centre.

    The protesters are demanding more government concessions and political reforms.
