Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro is calling for more development in the Amazon.

That is despite international condemnation over his handling of a record number of wildfires in the region.

It is believed they are the result of illegal farming and logging - which local government officials say they don't have enough resources to stop.

Al Jazeera's Daniel Schweimler reports from the northwestern state of Rondonia.
