Kuwait emir to visit Iraq over Gulf rift

Kuwait’s ruler will visit Iraq amid unprecedented regional tensions after attacks on tankers in the Gulf of Oman.

The emir of Kuwait is due to arrive in Baghdad in order to mediate in a bitter dispute between the US and Iran.

Iraq finds itself increasingly caught between the two sides.

Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah is highly respected in the region, and he’s the latest leader to visit Baghdad after officials from the US, Germany and Oman dropped in.
