Cannes Film Festival kicks off with focus on gender equality

This year’s festival is the first to be held since the entertainment industry became engulfed in a sexual harassment scandal.

The red carpet has been rolled out again in the south of France for this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Of the 21 films competing for the top prize, the Palme d’Or, it is apparent that this year’s focus is not on Hollywood.
