Protesters in Hong Kong are marking 50 days since they first occupied main roads in the city.

The regional government has threatened to clear the protest sites, but is now relying on the public to do so.

Student leaders have had little success engaging Beijing over their demands for fully democratic elections due to be held in 2017.
