Cyprus naval base blasts

At least 12 people were killed and dozens injured after a series of explosions hit a naval base in southern Cyprus on Monday.

The explosions were sparked by a fire and caused debris to fly over a wide area.

The concussion wave from the blasts also knocked out the Vassilikos power station, the largest on the island, which caused power outages felt all the way to the capital, Nicosia.
