Boeing is to announce a huge set of orders.

Gecas is expected to order 15 Boeing777s
The report said that airlines were in a hurry to order aeroplanes because of a dwindling number of delivery slots available for new aircraft owing to Boeing’s full order book.

For example, the earliest delivery slot for a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, a medium-sized long-haul jet, was in 2013, the paper said.

“After winning 200 more aircraft orders than it expected this year, Boeing is poised to announce more than $10bn in additional business in the coming weeks as airlines scramble to snap up delivery slots,” the paper said.

It said that booming demand for Boeing aircraft resulted from a broad trend in the industry for airlines to renew their fleets but had been boosted also by problems at rival Airbus, which has been struck by internal difficulties and production delays to its A380 superjumbo carrier.

British Airways, Korean Air, Vietnam Airlines and Philippine Airlines were all considering placing new orders with the group, the newspaper said.
