Van Domselaar, the difference maker
With six key saves, the Netherlands’s van Domselaar put in an influential performance between the sticks.
MVP of the game…
Definitely the Dutch Goalie, Daphne van Domselaar.
She has a superb game.

Full-time
With a final blow of the whistle, South Africa’s World Cup dream comes to a close.
The Netherlands were in complete control throughout, despite some nervy moments generated by Banyana Banyana.
The Dutch will now go on to face Spain on August 10, in the quarter-finals.
Full-time: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Kgatlana stopped again
With time winding down, she fires in a powerful shot from outside the box on the right side.
Van Domselaar does well to block the effort, with the ball going out for a right-side corner.
It is quickly taken but the delivery is poor as the Dutch do well to keep it out.
90+5 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Both sides make changes
For South Africa, Magaia and Motlhalo come off in favour of Noxolo Cesane and Melinda Kgadiete.
Meanwhile, for the Dutch, Katja Snoejs and Jill Baijings are brought on to replace goal-scorer Roord as well as Martens.
90+3 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Four added minutes
With a more sedate half in comparison with the first, there will be just four additional minutes of stoppage time.
90+1 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Dutch make double change
Pelova and Brugts come off to warm applause, with their replacements Lynn Wilms and Kerstin Casparij rushing onto the pitch.
90 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Banyana Banyana heading for exit
It has been relentless from the Dutch as they have sent in wave after wave.
South Africa have done their best to keep the scoreline in a respectable state.
87 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Roord shot goes over
Beerensteyn stays onside this time as she receives a long ball from the deep.
She manoeuvres herself to the left side of the box but the limited angle forces the forward to pass to Roord.
Roord receives the ball and then, soon, fires in a shot but gets far too much elevation on it.
84 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Beerensteyn effort ruled offside
Brugts spots an open Beerensteyn but mistimes the chip over.
The forward does well to beat Swart on the left side of the box and fires it into an open net, but the lines-woman has her flag up.
80 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Van de Donk subbed
Moments after the let-off, the coach decides it is the end of van de Donk’s participation in this round of 16 encounter.
She is replaced by Damaris Egurrola.
77 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Swart alert to danger
Van de Donk receives the ball on the fringes of the box.
She is clear on goal but spots an open Beerensteyn.
However, her pass is overcooked as Swart is able to cut across to intercept the ball before it reaches its intended receiver.
The No 10 really should have taken it, as it was a glorious chance for the Dutch to go up 3-0.
75 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Motlhalo shot saved
South Africa are throwing everything and the kitchen sink at the Dutch.
The ball finds Motlhalo who aims precisely for the bottom right of the net but van Domselaar is equal to the task.
The resulting corner is taken but nothing comes off it.
73 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Roord effort goes wide
The Netherlands have their tails up as Roord tries her luck from inside the box on the right side but her effort sails wide past the far post.
72 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Goal!
The Dutch are in the driver’s seat as Beerensteyn’s shot bursts through Swart’s defences.
A clever pass from Roord sets Beerensteyn off just left of centre.
Despite the trailing marker, she issues a powerful shot at the net, which Swart looks like she is behind, but the ball bursts through her gloves to continue feebly into the net.
Very lucky there for the Dutch and South Africa are staring down the barrel.
68 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Yellow for van de Donk
For a late challenge on her marker, the No 10 goes into the book.
With the yellow she picked up in the previous game, assuming the Dutch go through to the quarters, she will be suspended for that match
67 mins: Netherlands 1-0 South Africa
Spitse neutralises Kgatlana threat
A wonderful cross in from the left allows Kgatlana space to pick up the ball and make a beeline towards the net.
Spitse, who is trailing, times her slide superbly to dislodge the ball from Kgatlana, with van der Gragt clearing the danger away.
65 mins: Netherlands 1-0 South Africa
Dutch continue strong play
It has been a similar story to the first half.
The Netherlands have dominated possession at 71 percent while out-passing South Africa 410 to 168.
Banyana Banyana have been able to successfully counterattack when the moment arises but have failed to really test van Domselaar with the efforts they have managed so far.
61 mins: Netherlands 1-0 South Africa
VAR rules goal offside
With Pelova in that slightly offside position, it is no surprise the goal is rechecked.
It is deemed that she was indeed offside and South Africa are given a saving grace here as the scoreline is restored to 1-0 in the Dutch’s favour.
57 mins: Netherlands 1-0 South Africa
Goal!
Martens doubles up the Dutch lead.
Beerensteyn is released on the left side and does well to hold onto the ball despite the close-in defender.
She spots an open Pelova who looks a tad offside but the flag remains down when she receives the ball.
She passes quickly to Martens who on-the-turn fires a shot that is initially blocked by Swart, though she is unable to stop it from bouncing into the net.
54 mins: Netherlands 2-0 South Africa
Dutch corner fails to work Swart
Spitse replicates the same low trajectory delivery that resulted in the earlier goal from the right side.
The ball finds a receiver who loops in a header towards the net but gets too much elevation on it to trouble the keeper.
50 mins: Netherlands 1-0 South Africa
Second half under way
Banyana Banyana will open proceedings for this second half.
They have just 45 minutes to keep their World Cup hopes alive.
