Mexico women break new ground in gold mines

For many years, mining in Mexico was almost exclusively a man’s job.

With an increasing number of miners heading to the US, however, women have started to dig their way into the trade.

Today, 10 per cent of the workers are women and their numbers are still increasing. These Mexican women are also defying aged-old superstitions that they bring bad luck to the mines.
